Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a part-time Music Instructor to teach and lead music classes at varied corps locations across Massachusetts. The role involves traveling to assigned corps, planning and promoting local music events, and preparing musicians for seasonal performances.

We require a High School Diploma and music teaching experience; valid driver’s license and transportation; ability to work weeknights and weekends; excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience leading and teaching a music discipline.
• Experience in brass, vocal, guitar, or piano preferred.

Responsibilities

• The hours for this position will vary by week but will not exceed 8 hours per week.
• Locations and work hours will vary and be assigned by the Divisional Music Director.
• Travel to assigned Salvation Army corps in Massachusetts to teach and lead music classes, as well as group and private music lessons.
• Promote and plan local music events for corps that have been assigned; help leaders plan programs, advertise music programs, and implement events like concerts and recitals.
• Prepare musicians for seasonal performances during Christmas and Easter.
• Encourage and help prepare musicians to participate in Divisional music programs like Youth Arts Ministry, Star Search, and Music Conservatory.
• Communicate all problems or concerns to the Divisional Music Director.
• Must remain current with KeepSAfe training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
