Responsibilities

• Maintains the medical record files; sorts, files and collates lab/pathology reports and notes into correct patient records per procedures.
• Pulls charts for designated reasons and prioritizes appointments per established procedures.
• Files and retrieves medical records per filing system; researches missing records as required.
• Reviews medical records for completeness and notes deficiencies to supervisor.
• Scans Rx refills into telephone encounters; ensures correct pharmacy and providers; routes to triage nurse.
• Prints records for Release of Information requests and documents charges.
• Keeps the medical records area clean and orderly.
• Assists in developing and documenting job-related protocols.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
