Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification of completion in medical interpreting from a recognized organization.
• Written and verbal proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Completion of a medical interpreter training course within the last two years with ongoing CE

Responsibilities

• Provide bilingual interpretation (English and Spanish) for patients, families, and healthcare team to ensure accurate communication.
• Serve as primary and float interpreter within the assigned department.
• Train employees in medical terminology and interpret for other bilingual employees.
• Ensure documentation of all interpreted encounters in the patient’s medical record.
• Report patient concerns or social issues discovered during interpretation.
• Educate providers about the patient’s cultural, linguistic, and other needs.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
