Job summary

Mesilla Valley Hospital is seeking a PRN Interpreter to support language access for patients. You will listen, understand and translate between Spanish and English, helping the care team communicate with patients with limited English proficiency.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, interpreter certification preferred, and at least one year of customer service experience; direct patient care experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Listen to, understand and translate between Spanish and English.
• Translate questions or requests clearly and accurately, conveying intent.
• Convert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, accounting for idioms and slang.
• Assist patients with written and oral communication as needed.
• Submit translations to appropriate management for review as needed.
