Job summary

Lexington Medical Center is seeking a Spoken Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between LEP patients, families, and staff. You will provide accurate interpretation and sight-translation to enhance patient understanding of procedures and care plans.

The role emphasizes cultural mediation, confidentiality, and adherence to professional codes. Travel to other LMC facilities may be required, with opportunities for ongoing training and certification maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum years of experience: 1 year as a medical interpreter.
• Certification: nationally certified or obtain within first year (CCHI).
• Training: Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter proficiency required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide sight-translation of pertinent materials.
• Serve as cultural mediator to enhance communication.
• Maintain language skills and stay updated on terminology and regional nuances.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain certification.
• Respond to requests through ServiceHub and support patient understanding.
