DHR Health in Edinburg, TX seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to support the Urology Clinic. You will perform nursing and clerical duties under physician supervision, coordinate scheduling, verify insurance, and help manage patient flow to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, bilingual English/Spanish, and BLS certification or within 30 days of hire.

Competenze

• High School/GED preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification required, or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Position may require travel; valid driver’s license & vehicle insurance required.
• Bilingual - English/Spanish.

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to others.
• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information in medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping rooms neat and clean.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vitals.
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Assist the physician in the room as needed.
• Translate for patient/physician as needed.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
• Assist in examining and treating patients, including instrument handling and minor procedures.
• Collect blood, tissue or other specimens and prepare for testing.
• Verify insurance and obtain authorizations as needed.
• Schedule procedures and manage calendar with available staff and resources.
• Notify changes in schedule and manage no-shows or cancellations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Answer phones and other communications professionally.
• Perform clerical duties as necessary.
