Qualifications

• High School/GED preferred.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification required, or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Position requires travel, valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information in medical records.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keep rooms neat and clean.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, height.
• Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Assist the physician in the room as needed.
• Translate for patient/physician as needed.
• Explain treatments, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.
• Assist with examinations, handing instruments and performing injections or sutures.
• Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing.
