Job summary

Pillars Community Health, LLC in Illinois is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide skilled clinical support under the Director of Nursing, assisting Providers and licensed staff in patient care.

Responsibilities include taking histories, recording vitals, assisting exams, collecting specimens, venipuncture, administering vaccines, performing on-site CLIA testing, spirometry and ECGs, and using ECW EHR; bilingual English/Spanish required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant Training program.
• Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• Experience in a hospital or community health center preferred.
• CPR certified.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history interviews.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist with medical examinations/surgical procedures.
• Maintain inventory.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Notify patients of laboratory results.
• Schedule patient appointments.
• Translate during medical interviews with non-English-speaking patients.
• Educate patients about procedures.
• Perform visual acuities/visual field screening and hand-held optoacoustic emission testing.
• Remove sutures and staples.
• Perform CLIA waived on-site testing (Hemoglobin, Urinalysis, Glucose testing, Strep A Rapid Test, Urine HCG, Hemoglobin A1C).
• Perform venipuncture.
• Administer immunizations.
• Perform spirometry.
• Prepare/administer medications (oral/IM/ID/SC).
• Perform ECGs.
• Assist Patient Service Representatives with front desk responsibilities.
• Answer telephone and scheduling appointments.
• Assist the medication technician with processing prescriptions.
