Job summary

V Elizabeth is seeking an experienced legal assistant or paralegal in Chicago, IL who can analyze case viability and help convey the benefits of representation to potential clients. Bilingual Spanish required.

You will draft and review pleadings, manage depositions and trials, file documents in state courts, organize medical records, and coordinate with counsel, experts, and clients while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Must have litigation and Workers' Compensation experience and be able to obtain service, file motions, calendar court dates, and schedule depositions.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze facts and present them to the attorney for determination.
• Familiarity with Workers' Compensation required.
• Collaborative, positive attitude and desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, such as pleadings, discovery, and case management orders.
• Assist attorneys in scheduling and preparing for depositions, mediations, and trials, including notices and coordinating court reporters.
• Obtain, organize, and maintain medical records, imaging, bills, and other materials for client cases.
• Electronically file legal documents in Illinois State Courts.
• Correspond effectively with opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and clients.
• Provide support during legal proceedings, including coordinating case schedules and deadlines.
