Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience; level calibrated to capability.
  • Ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work, and collaborate across functions.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and enterprise/technical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and coordinate daily work schedules for mechanical maintenance personnel.
  • Lead emergency recovery and repair activities for equipment failures.
  • Coordinate maintenance with production to minimize disruptions.
  • Supervise on-site activities of subcontractors and external providers.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Coordinate outages, permits, parts, tools, contractors, and interfaces.
  • Develop job plans, inspection routes, and spare-parts recommendations.
  • Review maintenance history, downtime, and KPI trends; implement improvements.
  • Ensure work complies with lockout/tagout, safety, quality, and documentation requirements.

Job description

Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean is required.

The Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) plans and directs maintenance work to maximize equipment safety, availability, reliability, and lifecycle value with independent ownership of assigned work. The role works across HPLS functions and external partners to deliver safe, compliant, timely, and sustainable results during project execution and ongoing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assign and coordinate daily work schedules for mechanical maintenance personnel.
  • Lead and direct emergency recovery and repair activities in the event of equipment failures.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production department representatives to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Supervise and manage on-site activities of subcontractors and external service providers.
  • Plan, prioritize, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance work.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for equipment failures and recurring reliability losses.
  • Coordinate maintenance outages, permits, parts, tools, contractors, and production interfaces.
  • Develop job plans, inspection routes, equipment strategies, bills of material, and spare-parts recommendations.
  • Review maintenance history, downtime, cost, backlog, and reliability KPIs and implement improvement plans.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with lockout/tagout, safe-work, quality, and documentation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience; level and scope will be calibrated to demonstrated capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work, and collaborate across functions.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-relevant enterprise or technical systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean is required.
  • Maintenance experience in steel, metals, mining, chemical, paper, energy, or other continuous-process manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, alignment, welding, and condition monitoring.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM systems and reliability methods such as RCA, FMEA, or RCM.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The standard work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, work hours may be changed or adjusted based on operational, project, commissioning, emergency, or business needs. This position requires on-site work and is not eligible for remote work. Work is primarily performed at the Donaldsonville location and may include office, construction, commissioning, and/or operating-plant environments depending on assignment. Must be able to comply with site PPE, security, and safety requirements; travel between HPLS locations and vendor, partner, or project sites may be required.
