Job summary

ACCEL Schools' Lorain Bilingual Academy in Lorain, Ohio seeks an Intervention Specialist dedicated to supporting students with IEPs, creating a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment.

This bilingual EK-8 program emphasizes social-emotional development and culturally responsive teaching, with opportunities to collaborate with teachers and families and contribute to non-instructional activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Growth-focused coaching environment with frequent observations and progress monitoring.
• High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook).
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to pass FBI/BCI background checks.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers, interpreting abilities and disabilities and assisting in intervention strategies; modify general education curricula as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Relentlessly work to meet goals related to student achievement and culture and state goals.
• Utilize research-based practices in daily planning and instruction.
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching into daily lessons and interactions.
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students.
• Communicate regularly with families about academic and social-emotional growth.
• Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities like social events and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
