Manzanita Early Childhood Education in Oakland, CA seeks an Instructional Assistant in the Child Development Centers who is bilingual and dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing environment for young children. The role includes supporting activities, supervising groups, translating for English learners, and helping with meals in a 12-month program.

Reporting to the Site Administrator, the assistant will participate in developmentally appropriate activities and maintain a clean, safe facility

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Some experience working with children.
• Preferred: units in Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality child care in a safe, loving environment for the children in the CDC.
• Assist with planning and implementing activities for the children; read stories, sing songs, play games and participate with children.
• Supervise children during outdoor play and indoor activities.
• Ensure child safety and respond to needs in a patient, caring manner.
• Assist with snacks and meals; maintain cleanliness of eating areas.
• Attend to the physical needs of the children.
• Provide guidance and encouragement for various projects; promote healthy self-image.
• Observe children for signs of neglect or abuse and report concerns as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary environment and arrange toys and materials.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
