Job summary

Ascentria Care Alliance is seeking a Legal Coordinator to liaise with legal providers and advocate for unaccompanied youth in immigration cases. The role supports the Division of Children Services and will provide translation services as needed.

You will develop partnerships with legal services, coordinate meetings, track progress, prepare petitions and court reports, and ensure trauma-informed interactions. Travel to home visits and hearings may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in Human Services required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in child welfare or with migrant populations.
• Spanish bilingual preferred with strong oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and assist in advancing youth client immigration cases with legal providers.
• Coordinate with legal service providers and partners.
• Collaborate with representatives from agencies and consulates to ensure status is in order.
• Coordinate and maintain schedule of client legal meetings and hearings; prepare youth for hearings.
• Track steps in the legal process and keep managers and youth clients informed of progress.
• Communicate with family, sponsors, and guardians related to minors’ legal cases.
• Provide translation services as needed and ensure trauma-informed interactions.
• Assist during intake with documentation and referrals such as trafficking or child advocacy.
• Prepare legal reports and petition paperwork; maintain immigration case documentation.
• Provide legal trainings to staff and clients on juvenile immigration law.
