Job summary

Pegasus Building Services Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced HR Specialist to partner with branch leadership and provide HR support across employee relations, recruiting, performance management, compliance, and engagement.

This full-time role at our Long Beach office runs Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. You will be the first HR contact at the branch, support bilingual English/Spanish recruitment, assist with onboarding and HRIS data, and help ensure adherence to California employment law.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years HR or administrative experience; 4+ years preferred for generalist functions.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required.
• Knowledge of California employment law is a plus.

Responsibilities

• In partnership with HR manager, conduct thorough investigations into employee relations issues and document findings.
• Provide HR guidance to branch leaders on performance management and compliance.
• Analyze Branch HR metrics (e.g., turnover, retention) and recommend improvements.
• Support employee development in collaboration with Learning & Development.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
• Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
• Labor relations and CBA consulting with branch management.
• Bridge communication and partnership between branch and HR leadership.
• Assist with benefits coordination, employee verifications, and paycheck distribution.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
• Support employee questions and direct them to appropriate internal resources (e.g., payroll, benefits, HR leadership).
• Assist with I-9 audits, compliance, and HRIS data entry.
• Serve as the first point of contact at the front desk for employees, visitors, and job applicants in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Receive, log, and route incoming mail and packages appropriately.
• Coordinate with vendors, delivery personnel, and service providers in partnership with the Branch Manager to ensure smooth site operations.
• Provide bilingual support (English/Spanish) throughout the recruitment process.
• Participate in job fairs and recruiting events.
• Maintain accurate records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
• Supports new hire onboarding process, in person and using automated onboarding tools.
• Handle walk in candidates.
• Occasional coverage or project assistance for recruiters.
