Job summary

Frederick Community College is seeking an Adult Education & ESOL Intake Assistant to support GED, Adult Basic Education, and ESOL programs. You will assist with recruitment, orientation, testing, and data collection, while welcoming and guiding students through enrollment and progression.

The role requires at least one year of experience in learning support and community service, with emphasis on cross-cultural communication and reliable, timely reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year experience supporting learning (e.g., teaching, tutoring, training, coaching, mentoring).
• At least 1 year experience in community service or engagement (e.g., volunteering, advocacy).

Responsibilities

• Set up rooms/equipment for student intake, orientation, and testing activities.
• Assist students with directions or guide them to event or class locations.
• Welcome students and facilitate communication during the orientation process.
• Conduct student interviews and make notes.
• Facilitate completion of program forms and documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot interruptions during events and seek support as needed.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and maintain student confidentiality (FERPA).
• Facilitate student assessment using program tools and administer assessments.
• Maintain test security and a compliant test environment.
• Ensure compliance with testing policies and procedures.
• Perform scoring, reporting, and follow-up duties as trained.
• Assist with archiving, filing, or other office tasks.
• Attend trainings and complete required certifications (CASAS).
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.
