Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; academic preparation for or experience in teaching a culturally, racially and economically diverse student population in an urban school system.
• Experience teaching in an urban school system is desirable.
• Ability to design and implement lesson plans for students with diverse achievement levels.
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster an educational environment and plan an instructional program to meet individual student needs and whole groups.
• Use instructional methods and materials suited to curriculum and student well-being; implement objectives and pursue professional growth.
• Establish classroom policies and provide guidance, counseling, and discipline to meet achievement standards.
• Confer with students, parents/guardians, and staff to guide and evaluate student performance.
• Set classroom goals aligned with state and district standards; evaluate and report progress.
• Collect and interpret data; provide reports for administration.
• Direct the activities of non-certificated personnel.
• Attend required staff meetings and activities for professional achievement.
