Job summary

Riverdale High in Jefferson, Louisiana is seeking a Paraprofessional ESL to support English language learners across subjects. The role includes tutoring in native languages, translating notes, and coordinating with ELAD and teachers to plan tutoring sessions.

You will work on-site with the Bilingual/ELAD team, assist in classroom management, and help families connect with the school. Requires an Associate Degree or equivalent and strong English proficiency.

Qualifications

Requires Associate Degree or 48 college credit hours.
ParaPro Praxis pass and high school diploma/equivalency.
Proof of education from native country.

Responsibilities

Liaises between school administration, counselors, teachers, and bilingual students; interprets communications.
Translates notes, forms, and letters to home language.
Assists students in developing listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in their languages.
Tuts/reinforces content area concepts in native language in small groups or one-on-one.
Coordinates with ELAD and teachers to schedule native language tutoring.
Maintains classroom discipline and conducive learning environment.
Attends relevant workshops/meetings as requested by supervisor/ELAD Coordinator.
Performs record-keeping and coordinates parent volunteer activities.
