Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a District English Second Language Family Liaison and Interpreter to support multilingual learners, families, and schools by ensuring effective communication and compliant instructional services.

The role requires a degree in education or related field, proficiency in English and another language, and experience with ELs. FERPA compliance and confidentiality are essential, with responsibilities across enrollment, conferences, and family events.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, interpretation, linguistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in English and at least one other language (Spanish preferred; additional languages beneficial).
• Three years of experience working with English Learners, bilingual education, or interpretation services.
• Strong knowledge of Title III, ESSA requirements, and Alabama ESL regulations.
• Excellent communication, cultural competency, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between school staff and families with interpretation and translation support.
• Provide accurate, confidential interpretation during parent-teacher conferences and district meetings.
• Assist with enrollment and registration.
• Support school events and family workshops.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
• Submit documentation of services provided.
• Perform other duties to support students and families.
• Adhere to district policies and regulations.
• Demonstrates respect for diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Maintains professional conduct and confidentiality in all interactions.
