Job summary

Saint Paul Public Schools is seeking a bilingual Educational Assistant fluent in English and Karen to support ELL students and families in the Saint Paul area. This 10-month position works 37.5 hours weekly, with pay range listed in the posted contract and steps for EA1.

Responsibilities include interpretation, translation, tutoring, and coordination with teachers and parents to promote student success. Candidates should have either an AA/AS/AAS or equivalent coursework or a ParaPro/ParaEducator

Qualifications

Must have language proficiency in English and Karen.
Two years of post-secondary coursework applicable toward a bachelor's degree or a passing ParaPro/ParaEducator score with high school diploma or GED.
Experience working with school-aged children in structured settings (e.g. Teaching Assistant, tutoring).
Knowledge of computer software used in administrative tasks and education.

Responsibilities

Promote effective communication among students, families, and the community using English and Karen.
Interpret for parents at school conferences; translate information from schools.
Coordinate with teachers to address scheduling meetings and academic or behavior issues.
Attend to administrative duties including maintaining student records and coordinating interpreters.
