Job summary

Albert Lea Area Schools is seeking a Student Support interpreter/translator to provide translation and interpretation for school communications and family outreach. The role involves collaborating with staff to identify concerns and supporting students and parents to address barriers to engagement.

Responsibilities include working with outside agencies as needed, and occasional home visits to accommodate family schedules.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Karen language required.
• Proficient in English.
• No license required.
• High School Diploma or GED required; 60 credits/AA/AS degree or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support through translations or interpretations for students, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with school staff to identify concerns and work with parents and students to address them; may involve home visits.
• Assist parents and students with engagement issues, motivation, or barriers to success.
• Coordinate with outside agencies to provide information about needed support.
• Work approximately 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with schedule set by district student needs.
