Job summary

Easterseals Chicago is seeking a Classroom Support Specialist (Bilingual Spanish) to assist HS/PFA and EHS/PI classrooms in Chicago. You’ll provide half-day support to each classroom daily, help with inclusive practices, and assist teachers with curriculum, assessments, and family engagement.

The role emphasizes ensuring a safe, developmentally appropriate environment, coordinating with parents, and supporting children’s physical, social, cognitive, and emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum CDA Credential in Infant/Toddler or Preschool; must achieve both credentials within one year if no degree.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in early childhood education with 30 credits and 15 in ECE.
• ECE Level 2 within one year of hire.
• Paraprofessional license required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Support the quality of the classroom by partnering with leadership, other classroom staff, and consultants.
• Support the teaching team in creating an inclusive environment that supports children with disabilities, social-emotional needs, and challenging behaviors.
• Use data from child outcomes, screenings, and IFSPs/IEPs to guide lesson planning for individual children and for the group.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in Child Plus, Teaching Strategies GOLD, child education files, and child portfolios.
• Ensure active supervision and safety of children so that no child is ever left alone or unsupervised.
• Prepare reports on classroom activities, including attendance records.
• Attend required and recommended training and meetings.
• Support the center in achieving ExeleRate and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
• All other duties as assigned.
