Job summary

Easterseals Metropolitan Chicago is seeking an HS-EHS Classroom Support Specialist to assist HS/PFA and EHS/PI classrooms with half-day support, planning time, and proven inclusion practices.

You will help implement developmentally appropriate activities, support children with disabilities and challenging behaviors, document observations, and collaborate with teachers to maintain a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Required: CDA Credential in Infant/Toddler or Preschool; must obtain both if no degree within 1 year of hire.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in early childhood education (30 college credits, 15 in ECE).
• ECE Level 2 within 1 year of hire; Paraprofessional license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom quality by partnering with leadership, staff and consultants.
• Assist with inclusive environments for children with disabilities and challenging behaviors.
• Document observations and maintain child education files and portfolios.
• Support active supervision and safe classroom practices.
• Prepare attendance and other routine reports; participate in trainings and meetings.
