Job summary

Easterseals Gilchrist Marchman Child Development Center in Chicago seeks a Classroom Support Specialist to assist HS/EHS classrooms daily, focusing on inclusive practices and student well-being. You will collaborate with teachers to implement developmentally appropriate curricula and maintain accurate child observations and records.

The role requires CDA credentials, 1 year of experience, and parapro license within 6 months; a $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered and flexibility to support families.

Qualifications

• Minimum CDA credential for Infant/Toddler or Preschool; required.
• Paraprofessional license required within 6 months.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in early childhood education with 30 credits and 15 hours in ECE.
• 1 year of early childhood classroom experience.
• 1 year of experience serving culturally and linguistically diverse children.
• 1 year of Head Start/Early Head Start preferred.
• Knowledge of IELGs and IELDSs.

Responsibilities

• Support HS/EHS classrooms with daily ½ day coverage and assist with instruction.
• Assist in planning time, teacher coaching, and overall classroom operations.
• Support inclusion of children with disabilities and those needing social-emotional support.
• Implement developmentally appropriate practice using Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
• Maintain observations and documentation in Child Plus and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
• Ensure active supervision and safety of all children.
