Job summary

NYU Langone Health's Family Health Centers in Brooklyn is seeking a Specialist-Healthy Steps who is bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole. You will work with pediatric care teams to support healthy development and family resilience, conducting child development assessments during well visits.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, at least two years in child development or related work, English proficiency, and bilingual capability. BLS certification is required at hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in parenting, child development, social work or human service work.
• English proficiency (speaking and writing) required.
• Depending on the work site, a bilingual language requirement will be required.
• One of the following languages required: Spanish or Mandarin or Haitian Creole; written proficiency a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conducts office visits and developmental screenings in collaboration with the pediatric care team.
• Works closely with the pediatric team as a resource for developmental and parenting concerns.
• Facilitates parents/caregivers education and mental wellness groups.
• Participates in reflective supervision meetings.
• Provides anticipatory guidance to parents and other primary caregivers around early learning, fussiness, sleep, feeding, discipline.
