Job summary

NYU Langone Health - Family Health Centers in Brooklyn seeks a Specialist-Healthy Steps, bilingual (Spanish and/or Creole) to support families with child development and well‑being at well‑child visits. The role includes conducting developmental screenings, guiding parents, and coordinating referrals with the pediatric team.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience, plus English proficiency and a required BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in parenting, child development, social work or human service work.
• English proficiency (speaking and writing) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts office visits and developmental screenings in collaboration with the pediatric care team.
• Works closely with the pediatric team as a resource for developmental and parenting concerns.
• Facilitates parents/caregivers education and mental wellness groups.
• Participates in reflective supervision meetings.
• Provides anticipatory guidance to parents and other primary caregivers on early learning, sleep, feeding, etc.
• Documents all patient activity and care coordination in patient records and data systems.
• Provides referrals and tracks follow-up to connect families with services.
• Collaborates with pediatric providers on care coordination and education about child development.
