Job summary

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, the leading network of federally qualified health centers in New York, seeks a Specialist-Healthy Steps in Brooklyn. The bilingual specialist supports families and children, conducts screenings, and guides parents at well-child visits to promote healthy growth and development.

Collaborating with the pediatric team, this role emphasizes early identification of concerns, family resiliency, and connection to services, while contributing to new models of care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in parenting, child development, social work or human services.
• English proficiency (speaking and writing) required.
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish, Mandarin or Haitian Creole may be required depending on site.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Conducts office visits and developmental screenings with the pediatric team.
• Serves as a resource for developmental and parenting concerns.
• Facilitates parent/caregiver education and mental wellness groups.
• Participates in reflective supervision meetings.
• Provides anticipatory guidance to families on early learning, sleep, feeding and related topics.
• Documents patient activity and care coordination in the record systems.
• Provides referrals and tracks follow-up to connect families with services.
• Collaborates with pediatric providers on care coordination and education about child development.
