Job summary

YWCA Greater Lafayette is seeking a Bi-lingual Case Advocate to provide advocacy and case management for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

You will work with Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish-speaking clients, offering crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and ongoing support, with a focus on cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, human services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently, manage crisis situations, maintain professional boundaries, and stay calm in high-stress situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with survivors, coworkers, and community partners.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn client data systems.
  • Commitment to victim-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive services.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel within the service area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and follow-up services to survivors.
  • Conduct client intakes and needs assessments; develop individualized safety and action plans.
  • Help survivors navigate legal, civil, medical, and community systems.
  • Assist clients with understanding rights and preparing for court hearings and protective orders.
  • Provide Spanish-language interpretation and translation for YWCA services.
  • Connect clients with shelter, housing, counseling, healthcare, mental health services, employment, education, and childcare.
  • Provide referrals and warm hand-offs to YWCA programs and community partners.
  • Conduct community outreach, education, and presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and victim services.
  • Build relationships with organizations serving Hispanic/Latine communities; reduce barriers for immigrant and LEP survivors.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and service documentation.
  • Collaborate with YWCA residential, legal, child advocacy, and other program staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, training, and community events.
  • Participate in on-call/after-hours rotation for crisis intervention and advocacy.
