Job summary

YWCA Greater Lafayette in Lafayette, IN, seeks a Bi-lingual Case Advocate to provide advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. This full-time, primarily in-person role offers a compassionate, trauma-informed approach and requires Spanish-English fluency, crisis intervention, and strong collaboration with community partners.

Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Spanish, plus proficiency in English.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, human services, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work independently, manage crises, maintain boundaries, and stay calm in high-stress situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support and follow-up services to survivors.
  • Conduct client intakes and needs assessments; develop safety, support and action plans.
  • Help survivors navigate legal, criminal, civil, medical and community systems.
  • Assist clients with understanding rights and preparing for hearings, protection orders and services.
  • Provide Spanish-language interpretation and translation to support clients.
  • Connect clients with shelter, housing, counseling, healthcare, mental health services, employment, education, childcare and other resources.
  • Provide referrals and warm hand-offs to YWCA programs and partners.
  • Conduct community outreach, education and presentations on domestic violence and victim services.
  • Build relationships with Hispanic/Latine communities to reduce barriers to services.
