Qualifications

• Provide individualized case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support and follow-up services to survivors.

• Help survivors navigate legal, criminal, civil, medical and community systems.
• Assist clients with understanding rights and preparing for hearings, protection orders and services.
• Provide Spanish-language interpretation and translation to support clients.
• Connect clients with shelter, housing, counseling, healthcare, mental health services, employment, education, childcare and other resources.
• Provide referrals and warm hand-offs to YWCA programs and partners.
• Conduct community outreach, education and presentations on domestic violence and victim services.
• Build relationships with Hispanic/Latine communities to reduce barriers to services.

Pay Range: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

YWCA Greater Lafayette is seeking a compassionate, dependable Bi-lingual Case Advocate to provide advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

This position works directly with both Spanish-speaking and non-Spanish-speaking survivors, providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed support from initial crisis intervention through safety planning, referrals, systems advocacy, and ongoing case management.

What You'll Do

As a Bi-lingual Case Advocate, you will:

Provide individualized case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and follow-up services to survivors.

Conduct client intakes and needs assessments and help develop individualized safety, support, and action plans.

Help survivors navigate legal, criminal, civil, medical, and other community systems.

Assist clients with understanding their rights and options and preparing for court hearings, appointments, protection orders, and other services.

Provide Spanish-language interpretation and translation to support survivors receiving YWCA services.

Connect clients with shelter, housing, counseling, healthcare, mental health services, employment, education, childcare, financial assistance, and other community resources.

Provide referrals and warm hand-offs to YWCA programs and community partners.

Conduct community outreach, education, and presentations related to domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, and available victim services.

Build relationships with organizations serving Hispanic/Latine communities and help reduce barriers to services for immigrant and limited-English-proficiency survivors.

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records and service documentation.

Work collaboratively with YWCA residential, legal, child advocacy, and other program staff.

Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, training, professional development, and community events.

Participate in an on-call/after-hours rotation to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and accompaniment when needed.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Spanish, along with proficiency in English.

Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, human services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to work independently, manage crisis situations, maintain professional boundaries, and remain calm in high-stress situations.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to build trusting relationships with survivors, coworkers, and community partners.

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn client-data and documentation systems.

Commitment to providing victim-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive services.

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel within the service area.

Preferred:

Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking.

Experience working with Hispanic/Latine communities.

Knowledge of community resources, victim rights, and basic civil and criminal legal processes.

Familiarity with immigration-related issues and resources affecting survivors, including VAWA self-petitions, U-Visas, and T-Visas.

What to Expect

This is a full-time, 40-hour, primarily in-person position. Some evening and weekend hours are required based on client and program needs, and the position participates in an on-call rotation.

The work can include responding to individuals experiencing crisis and trauma and traveling to courts, hospitals, community organizations, and other locations throughout the service area.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, fingerprinting, and any additional screening required by YWCA policy or applicable funding sources.
