Job summary

Grand Street Settlement in New York, NY seeks a Bi-lingual Benefit and Entitlement Caseworker to provide direct support for public benefits, entitlements, and related social services. You will assess client needs, assist with applications, and advocate to secure benefits, while recruiting new clients and delivering outreach in the community.

The role requires an Associate degree (BA preferred), 1–2 years in case management, and fluent English/Spanish.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree required; BA preferred.
• 1–2 years in community or family support case management.
• Familiarity with public benefits and entitlement programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• Proficient with databases and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned caseload and meet monthly deliverables.
• Maintain accurate client records in required tracking systems.
• Provide ongoing client support through assessments, benefit screenings, and service planning.
• Input client information and referrals into appropriate database systems.
• Educate clients on their rights and responsibilities related to benefits and entitlements.
• Maintain accurate case notes, records, and program documentation.
• Collaborate with internal staff, partners, and government agencies to resolve issues.
• Monitor client progress and advocate when delays or denials occur.
• Provide referrals to housing, legal assistance, and workforce programs.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development.
• Uphold confidentiality and professional standards.
• Meet program deliverables and targets for benefit assistance connections.
