Job summary

RCMA is seeking an on-site School Age Tutor (High School Student) to assist students academically in language, literacy, math, and other subjects using approved curricula. The role emphasizes building a positive classroom environment and fostering parent involvement.

Responsibilities include establishing routines, tracking progress, supporting homework, and serving as a positive role model while participating in ongoing training and meetings.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English/Spanish.
• Up to one year of experience as a School Age Tutor.

Responsibilities

• Reads and becomes familiar with after-school program goals, philosophy, objectives, and agency policies & procedures.
• Establishes classroom routines and procedures.
• Formulates student behavior standards in the classroom, identifies causes of inappropriate behavior, and works to correct it utilizing available resources.
• Selects, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates learning activities, daily lessons, and student performance.
• Maintains class records and the individual progress of each student.
• Maintains a warm, secure, affectionate climate for school-age children.
• Provides a safe and healthy environment for school-age children.
• Establishes relationships of trust with children and their families and ensures meaningful parent involvement is taking place.
• Stimulates the thinking skills and language development of school-age children.
• Provides children with opportunities to develop independence and promotes self-esteem.
• Observes and record each child's progress.
• Assists school-age children as appropriate with homework, worksheets, and other school assignments.
• Serves as a positive role model.
• Assists with the recruitment & enrollment of students.
• Participates in training and career development activities.
• Attends staff meetings as required.
