Job summary

Sports Basement in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Bike Manager to join the management team. You will work with the General Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, including hiring, scheduling, payroll and staff development, while maintaining WOW customer service and strong product management across all departments.

A Senior Manager has responsibility for multiple departments and leads by example, guiding staff from onboarding to performance feedback, fostering diversity and a positive store culture.

Qualifications

• Previous retail or industry experience.
• Recent experience as a Manager, preferably for a medium to large sized team.
• Proven track record of developing staff and providing constructive feedback.
• Understand and interpret business metrics to drive objectives.
• Experience in goal planning and driving a team to achieve increased sales and service.
• Able to create a WOW experience for every customer.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers, staff and corporate teams.
• Experience in identifying staffing needs and recruiting a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver WOW customer service and ensure staff provide WOW service across all levels.
• Train staff on SB tools to create WOW experiences.
• Provide excellent on-the-spot customer service across all departments.
• Respond to high-level situations with the goal of turning customer experiences positive.
• Implement SB's Security Policy.
• Identify merch priorities and plan workload for staff.
• Maintain department goals, cleanliness, and inventory management.
• Collaborate with Buyers to improve product management.
• Lead staff development, provide feedback, and support diversity and inclusion.
• Proactively manage staffing needs and scheduling with GM approval.
