Job summary

Big Cedar Lodge seeks a Summer Hospitality Intern to gain hands-on experience in guest-facing departments such as Marinas, Activities, Recreation, Cedar Creek Spa, Fun Mountain, Safety & Security, Finance & Accounting, or Marketing.

This paid internship offers professional development, leadership exposure, and real-world industry experience. On-site housing is available for interns for a weekly rental fee, providing convenient living near the workplace and Big Cedar’s amenities.

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must be entering junior or senior year of college, with a minimum of 60 credits completed.
• Preferred degrees: Hospitality Management, Sports & Recreation, Business Management, Marketing.
• Certificate(s) or License(s): None.
• Years of experience: 0 years required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Weekly hospitality training courses covering finance, marketing, customer service, procurement, etc.
• Actively work in assigned business area in a safe manner.
• Participate in group project with assigned mentor and potential implementation at the property.
• All other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Summer Hospitality Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in one of Big Cedar Lodge’s guest-facing departments, helping create memorable experiences for our guests while learning the hospitality industry from experienced professionals. Internship placements may include Marinas, Activities, Recreation, Cedar Creek Spa, Fun Mountain, Safety & Security, Finance & Accounting, or Marketing.

This is a paid internship opportunity that offers valuable professional development, leadership exposure, and real-world industry experience. On-site housing is available for interns for a weekly rental fee, providing a convenient living option just steps away from the workplace and Big Cedar’s amenities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Participate in Weekly hospitality training courses that may review various hospitality management skills including but not limited to finance, marketing, customer service, procurement, etc
• Actively work in assigned business area in a safe manner.
• Participate in group project with assigned mentor that may be implemented through the property. Topics may vary from year to year.
• All other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must be entering junior or senior year of college, with a minimum of 60 credits completed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

• Previous experience in working or volunteering with school age children
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and associates at all levels
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
• CPR certification and basic first aid training preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly walks and stands.

Occasionally sits, lifts up to 50 lbs., and does computer work.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
