Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a Golf Course Maintenance Summer Intern at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, MO. The role focuses on chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting, and possible small crew leadership opportunities.

Qualified candidates are enrolled in a Turfgrass Management/ Landscaping degree program and ready to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays. Training will cover greens maintenance and on-course operations.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree.
• Ability to perform chemical applications and irrigation maintenance.
• Willingness to work weekends/holidays and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Performs chemical applications - boom spraying greens, tees, and fairways.
• Maintains Rainbird/Toro sprinkler systems and troubleshoots issues.
• Sands topdressing of greens.
• Waters bent grass greens with a pogo sensor when needed.
• Leads small project crew when opportunities arise.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Golf Course maintenance summer intern is responsible for chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting, and exposure to small crew leadership opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs chemical applications - boom spraying greens, tees, and fairways.
• Performs maintenance on Rainbird/Toro sprinkler head and troubleshoots as needed.
• Sands topdressing of greens.
• Hand waters bent grass greens in the transition zone using a pogo sensor.
• Leads small project crew when opportunities arise.
• Networks with the other on course assistants, course superintendents as well as the Director of Agronomy.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers.
• Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
• Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

• Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
