Job summary

Spence Brothers in Saginaw, MI, is seeking an Estimator Assistant / Bid Coordinator to support our preconstruction and estimating team. You will review plans, prepare quantity takeoffs, and assist with accurate proposal development for our Mid-Michigan market.

This role works closely with estimators, subcontractors, suppliers, insurance contacts, and other stakeholders to ensure bids are complete and aligned with project requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in construction administration or with a construction estimator.
• Understanding of construction management processes.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, building plans, specifications, and contractor scopes.
• Excellent communication, highly organized and detail oriented.
• Strong problem solving and planning skills.
• Ability to manage high pressure deadlines.
• Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with Procore and Bluebeam.
• OSHA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, analyze plans and RFPs to establish project scope.
• Submit RFIs and circulate addenda to bidding teams.
• Solicit quotes and post bid invitations to plan rooms.
• Maintain vendor directory and qualify bids against scope sheets.
• Attend pre-bid and post-bid meetings and provide notes and information.
• Build and update master estimation spreadsheets with quantities and labor rates.
• Assemble final bid forms, summaries and cost proposals.
• Identify new job leads and update bid boards.
• Support subcontractors and suppliers; manage bid lists.
