Job summary

University of the Cumberlands seeks a BI & Analytics Engineer to own reporting across the University using Snowflake, dbt, and Power BI. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define metrics, build trusted data models, and deliver clear dashboards for admissions, enrollment, retention, and finance.

You'll shape standards, own existing reports, and lay the foundation for scalable analytics while working remotely as part of a growing Data Engineering team led by the Lead Data Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years in BI, analytics, or related data roles.
• Strong SQL skills with joins, aggregations, CTEs, and troubleshooting data issues.
• Experience building reports in Power BI or other BI tools such as Tableau or Looker.
• Solid data modeling concepts including fact and dimension tables and star schemas.
• Proven ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate into reports.
• Experience working independently with strong prioritization.
• Commitment to data privacy and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own the University's Power BI environment and lifecycle of reports.
• Build and maintain dashboards for admissions, enrollment, retention, and finance.
• Review and decide which reports to rebuild, consolidate, or retire.
• Build dbt models in Snowflake with clear documentation and testing.
• Define shared metrics and semantic models to support reporting and AI queries.
• Validate data and explain discrepancies.
• Scope requests with stakeholders by clarifying questions and metrics.
• Support adoption through training and documentation.
• Help establish data modeling, report design, and version control practices.
