Job summary

Whitaker Construction is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to turn construction and business data into dashboards, reports, and insights. You will partner with field leaders, project managers, and office teams to deliver practical solutions using Power BI, SQL, automation, and analytics tools.

The role focuses on improving data quality, expanding self-service analytics, and responsibly integrating AI capabilities across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent practical experience considered.
• Education credentials (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.) preferred.
• Typically 2–5 years in business intelligence, analytics, or related role (construction experience helpful).
• Hands-on Power BI experience: data modeling, Power Query, DAX, visualization, publishing, security, refreshes.
• Working knowledge of SQL, joins, views, transformations, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with ERP data, APIs, cloud services, and operational apps; Microsoft Fabric/Azure Data Factory a plus.
• Power Automate, Python, Git, data governance or similar tools are a plus.
• Experience with Copilot/Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Fabric, or similar AI platforms is helpful.
• Understanding of responsible AI: privacy, security, oversight, validation, monitoring.
• Enjoy solving problems and explaining findings clearly.
• Care about accurate, understandable, and useful data.
• Ability to manage priorities and collaborate across teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Teamwork and collaboration.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data models supporting operational, financial, and executive decisions.
• Translate business needs into clear requirements, metrics, calculations, and visuals.
• Improve report performance, usability, security, and documentation.
• Fulfill ad hoc data requests for stakeholders.
• Prepare and validate data from ERP, timekeeping, telematics, PM, safety, finance and other systems.
• Create SQL queries, data transformations, APIs, and automated workflows for reporting.
• Monitor data refreshes and coordinate with IT on integration/performance issues.
• Maintain reliable data models, reusable measures, calculations, and trusted sources.
• Identify data-quality issues and implement validation, reconciliation, and monitoring controls.
• Define terms, ownership, access, and retention with data owners.
• Gather requirements and support BI solution design, testing, launch and acceptance.
• Help field leaders and teams use dashboards confidently; drive adoption.
• Use adoption data to improve solutions and business value.
• Analyze trends, risks, and performance drivers across projects and departments; deliver findings.
• Evaluate analytics and automation tools to reduce manual work.
• Identify AI opportunities to improve productivity, decisions, safety, risk management, and UX.
• Develop or support approved AI solutions and copilots; integrate them securely.
• Track AI quality, usage, cost, risk, adoption, and business results; document controls.
• Promote safety and adherence to procedures.
