Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking staff for Behavioral Health - Geri Psych at UAB St. Vincent's East.

The role involves direct patient care for adults and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs, with a team-based approach focused on stabilization, recovery, and long-term wellness. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, providing direct patient care and interventions, monitoring behavior, and building therapeutic relationships.

Qualifications

• Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Nurse Aide preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral health patient care.
• Assist patients with performing activities of daily living.
• Provide or assist with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities; report changes and suggest modifications to treatment plan.
• Establish a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative relevant experience

Associate's degree/Technical degree

4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience

  • PRN Days, 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
• Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's East

Our Behavioral Health services at UAB St. Vincent’s East include 80 beds for adult and geriatric patients with acute and chronic mental health needs. Our dedicated team-based care model provides individualized, compassionate care. We provide a safe and structured environment focused on stabilization, recovery, and long-term wellness.

Job Description

Provide direct behavioral health patient care.

• Assist patients with performing activities of daily living.
• Provide or assist with providing direct patient care, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Observe and record patient behavior and activities. Report any changes in condition and suggests modifications to the treatment plan.
• Establish a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American HeartAssociation or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Nurse Aide preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative relevant experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
