Job summary

Downstream Casino Resort is seeking a bartender to provide friendly service in the pub and casino areas. You will take drink orders, assist in drink preparation, and present drinks to guests, ensuring 100% guest satisfaction.

This role requires counting money, basic tray service knowledge, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays while maintaining a professional appearance and strong English communication with guests and staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Able to count money and make change.
  • Practices safe handling of service equipment and garnishes.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must present a neat, professional appearance.
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Takes drink orders, communicates with bartender, assists in the preparation of drinks and presents drinks to guests.
  • Assist all Supervisors in providing a successful operation of VIP Rooms.
  • Monitors guest consumption of alcohol and intervenes as needed according to guidelines.
  • Provides personalized service and uses guest name.
  • Takes food orders when working in the pub & poker room and delivers to guests.
  • Promotes casino events and programs.
  • Works closely with beverage staff and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintains a friendly, professional demeanor with guests and staff.

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Takes drink orders, communicates with bartender, assists in the preparation of drinks and presents drinks to guests
  • Assist all Supervisors in providing a successful operation of VIP Rooms
  • Ensures the minimum level of labor is used to perform the required level of service
  • Ensures all service equipment is handled safely and with reasonable care, reporting mechanical problems to proper department
  • Handles money according to procedure
  • Acts immediately on any guest complaint to ensure corrections are made and the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee invocations are made
  • Monitors guest consumption of alcohol and intervenes as needed according to guidelines
  • Serves as ambassador of goodwill while working and at customer and public relations functions; appears in publicity photos
  • Promotes casino events and programs
  • Works closely with others, especially beverage servers, bartenders, bar helpers, beverage supervisor, and slots supervisor
  • Provides personalized service and uses guest name
  • Takes food orders when working in the pub & poker room and delivers to guests
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Maintains a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Attends all necessary training meetings.
  • Assist in other projects, as directed.
  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by 24-hour schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Count money and change correctly
  • Know or is able to learn tray service, cocktail ingredients
  • Available to work required schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees and customers.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations and be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 lbs. for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to reach above and below the shoulder, grip small items (i.e., pens, money, garnishes), bend, stoop and twist while serving cocktails, stand and walk for up to four hours wearing one inch (minimum height) heels
  • Able to tolerate second-hand smoke, noise, bright lights
  • Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.

The Downstream Casino Resort Adheres to all applicable Resolutions of the Quapaw Nation. Native American Preference policy does apply.

Under Downstream Casino Resort employment, the duties described in this job description will also be performed for other Quapaw Nation owned business enterprises as needed, including, but not limited to, Saracen Development, LLC enterprises, Quapaw Casino, and the Quapaw Nation business office.
