Job summary

Ford Energy in Dearborn, MI, is seeking a BESS Container Subsystem Design & Release Engineer to own the design and release of container subsystems, including thermal, fire detection/suppression, venting, structural, and electrical integration.

You will work across TVM, purchasing, and supplier teams to optimize cost, quality, and schedule while ensuring safety compliance and release readiness for production launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• 3+ years design & release experience in BESS/automotive or similar electro‑mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with safety standards (UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 855/68).
• Experience with DFMEA, DVPR, BOM/BOD, and design release docs.
• Experience partnering with Purchasing or supply chain on sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Own design and release of container subsystems (thermal, fire, venting, enclosure, electrical).
• Develop SDS, CDS, BOMs, and BODs for container hardware.
• Lead or support DFMEA, DVPR, and design reviews for safety and performance.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions with partners.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing and DV/PV Testing to ensure release readiness.
