Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering in Lakewood, CO, is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer in the BESS group to perform engineering design and analysis under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, coordinating with team members to meet schedules and budgets.

The role supports remote or Lakewood in-office work with a salary range of $75,000–$110,000 per year. A 4-year degree in electrical engineering and 1–4 years of experience are required; FE/PE is a plus, with AutoCAD experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
• 1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience
• FE, PE is a plus, but not required
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Effective written and oral communications skills
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform detailed physical and electrical design and engineering for all aspects of battery energy storage systems (BESS)
• Typical design products might include BESS equipment general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, connection details, bill of materials, construction details, grounding details, conduit plans, illumination plans, etc.
• Prepares computer-based models and performs power system studies on utility scale BESS projects as required
• Typical electrical power system studies might include BESS equipment sizing, specification, and selection, load flow, reactive power, ampacity, short circuit, grounding, illumination, arc flash, harmonics, system loss, etc.
• Writes material, equipment, and construction specifications
• Reviews spec sheets and submittals for conformance with specifications and design
• Prepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, and studies
• Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports, as required
• Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required
• Maintains a strong understanding and comprehension of applicable Codes and Standards
• Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics
• Maintains high ethical and professional standards
• Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required
• Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
• Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
• Other job-related responsibilities as assigned
