Job summary

NEI Electric Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer to design and analyze battery energy storage systems (BESS) under professional engineer oversight. You will join an integrated design team and coordinate to meet schedules and budgets while applying applicable codes and standards.

The role offers remote work or in-office Lakewood, CO, with 0–10% travel and opportunities for growth in a dynamic engineering environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution (electric power option preferred).
1–4 years of relevant engineering or field experience.
FE license is a plus, PE is a plus but not required.
Experience with AutoCAD
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal and people skills
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to perform detailed electrical design and engineering for battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Prepare general arrangements, single line diagrams, elevations, BOMs and construction details.
Perform power system studies and model-based analyses for utility-scale BESS projects.
Create specifications for materials, equipment, and construction; review submittals for conformance.
Produce cost estimates, budget reports, and studies; provide field assistance when needed.
Monitor quality and ensure compliance with codes and standards; maintain client relationships.
