Job summary

NextEra Energy seeks a Battery Energy Storage (BESS) Project Manager to support utility-scale storage initiatives in the Central and Midwest U.S. The role focuses on early-stage management and pre-construction, advancing projects from development through handoff to execution teams.

Qualifications

• 1-10+ years of project management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
• Experience supporting infrastructure, utility, industrial, energy, or renewable projects.
• Strong scheduling, coordination, and budget management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Ability to work onsite in Juno Beach, FL (remote candidates in Central/Midwest may be considered).

Responsibilities

• Manage utility-scale BESS projects during development and pre-construction.
• Evaluate project opportunities and support viability assessments.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and critical milestones.
• Track budgets, forecasts, CAPEX, and project financials.
• Coordinate procurement, contracting, and vendor activities.
• Prepare executive updates, presentations, and approval materials.
• Identify and mitigate technical, commercial, permitting, schedule, and interconnection risks.
• Partner with engineering, development, finance, and procurement teams to drive project progression.
