Job summary

Aecon is seeking a Project Manager to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects under an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. The Project Manager will be accountable for safe, high-quality delivery from contract award through commissioning, energization, and closeout.

This role requires strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
7–10 years of project management experience in EPC construction, power, or industrial infrastructure.
PMP or P.Eng designation is an asset.
Experience with BESS, substations, renewable energy, or utility-scale projects is preferred.
Knowledge of electrical systems and grid interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead planning and execution across engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and overall performance with strong project controls.
Oversee project finances, forecasting, and change management.
Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and opportunities.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure clear communication with clients and stakeholders.
Administer contracts and support claims and change orders.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
Oversee commissioning, energization, and turnover to the client.
