Job summary

FlexGen Power Systems, LLC. in Durham, NC is seeking a Project Manager to lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from contract execution through commercial operation.

You will coordinate across Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Software Integration, Supply Chain, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial, and Customer teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with customer commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline is required.
• Ability to utilize AI-driven tools to streamline processes and improve performance.
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience leading complex engineering or energy projects.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Strong understanding of project governance, controls, contracts, and risk management.
• Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and willingness to travel 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead successful execution of utility-scale BESS projects from contract to operation, ensuring safety and quality.
• Coordinate Engineering, Systems, Applications, Software, Supply Chain, Construction, and Commercial teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Develop and execute integrated project plans: scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Drive PMO governance with standardized methodologies and exec communications.
• Lead reviews with customers and executives, identify risks, and drive timely decisions.
• Ensure alignment of commercial commitments with engineering deliverables and readiness.
• Capture lessons learned and promote best practices across PMO.
