Job summary

Hydrogen UK Ltd in the United States is seeking a BESS Project Manager to support battery energy storage system projects from development through construction. You will coordinate development, engineering, estimating, supply chain, scheduling and construction to keep a diverse multi-state portfolio on track.

This role requires strong project management, communication, and financial acumen, with travel to project sites and hearings; PMP certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Finance/Accounting preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering and construction of renewable energy projects.
• PMP Certification preferred
• Advanced Excel skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinate highly matrixed project development teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activity at the right time to meet project schedule.
• Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, and interconnection stakeholders to identify and incorporate all project variables.
• Develop the project's technical scope.
• Optimize project variables to improve technical and financial feasibility.
• Support origination and development teams with PPA and GIA negotiations.
• Support development teams with jurisdictional needs.
• Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement requirements.
• Support the engineering team with technical attributes for design development.
• Support the cost estimating team in developing the financial model.
• Research and leverage market data to keep the financial model current and competitive.
• Present the financial model to relevant business units and manage it through executive budget approvals.
• Competitively source, negotiate, and execute contractual services for EPC/PC construction, geotechnical, and surveying.
• Represent E&C's interests on assigned projects.
• Use software to manage data, deliverables, and KPIs.
• Support process improvement and efficiency initiatives for growth.
• Communicate with Executive Leadership, suppliers, regulators, communities, and stakeholders.
• Present project progress and risk mitigation strategies to management.
• Ensure construction handoff with executable plans.

Pay Range: $40–45/hr

Our client, a leading energy company's Engineering & Construction (E&C) Business Unit, is seeking a Project Manager to support Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early-stage development through the point of construction. This role coordinates internal and external resources across Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Construction to keep a diverse, multi-state portfolio of BESS projects on track.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support a portfolio of BESS projects spanning the United States and Canada, each at varying stages of development. Key responsibilities include:

• Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services including geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services
• Represent E&C's interests on assigned projects
• Use a variety of software applications to manage data, deliverables, and key performance indicators
• Support process improvement and efficiency initiatives to scale for growth
• Communicate and interface with Executive Leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders
• Present project progress and risk mitigation strategies to various levels of management
• Ensure projects moving to the Construction stage are handed off to the Construction Project Manager with a complete, executable construction plan
• Travel occasionally to project sites and local public hearings in support of Development

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with electricity markets, renewables, and/or battery storage projects a plus
• PMP Certification preferred
• Advanced Excel skills preferred

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Finance/Accounting preferred, or equivalent experience
• Experience in engineering and construction of renewable energy projects preferred
• 6+ years of relevant experience
