Job summary

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital is seeking a Benefits Specialist to manage the benefits portfolio from enrollment through termination, coordinating with insurance vendors and employees on health, dental, retirement, and other plans. The role also supports HR activities and clerical tasks.

The position requires aBachelor’s degree or equivalent and 2+ years in benefits administration, plus strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required or 2+ years of related benefits administration experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or CEBS preferred or obtainable within 12 months.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting employee benefits.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and recommending new benefits programs.
• Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
• Coordinate data transfers for services, premiums and plan administration.
• Maintain standard operating procedures for benefits processes.
• Prepare data for audits and compliance reporting.
• Oversee enrollment, COBRA, terminations, changes and claims processes.
• Collaborate with Payroll on deductions and benefits records.
• Support onboarding and HR activities as needed.
