Job summary

City of Myrtle Beach is seeking a Benefits Coordinator to design, oversee, and administer the city’s benefits program, including health and retirement plans. The role requires shaping competitive packages, managing vendor relationships, and communicating with employees and retirees about benefits.

You will lead open enrollment and ensure regulatory compliance. The position emphasizes benefits administration expertise, staff leadership, and a proactive approach to benefits communications and data

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field.
• Five years of benefits administration and insurance experience.
• CEBS and/or PHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, direct, and evaluate staff; handle employee concerns and performance appraisals.
• Evaluate and develop benefits packages that are competitive and cost-effective.
• Manage group benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and voluntary benefits.
• Design benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance.
• Maintain knowledge of the best insurance plans for employees and retirees.
• Design and execute communications relating to benefits for employees and retirees.
• Oversee training for new employees to understand their benefits and answer questions.
