Job summary

BuildASign in Austin, TX is seeking a Benefits & Leave Specialist to administer employee health and welfare benefits, manage open enrollment, and oversee leaves of absence and accommodations for our manufacturing and office teams.

You will collaborate with brokers and carriers, ensure compliance with COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and ERISA, and support process improvements across HR operations to enhance the employee experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of HR experience focused on benefits administration, leave, and workers' compensation.
• Experience administering health and welfare benefits, including annual open enrollment.
• Knowledge of COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements.
• Experience with FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation claims.
• Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Administer employee health and welfare benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other benefits.
• Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and related communications.
• Administer the 401(k) retirement plan, including eligibility, enrollment, and vendor coordination.
• Serve as primary contact for benefits eligibility, enrollment, and claims questions; support employees and managers.
• Partner with brokers, carriers, and third-party admins to resolve issues and improve administration.
• Process and audit benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations; coordinate with Payroll.
• Ensure COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, ERISA compliance; review invoices and payments.
• Identify opportunities to improve benefits programs and communications.
• Manage FMLA, ADA accommodations, and leave processes; ensure compliance.
