Job summary

Macomb Community College is seeking a Benefits and Insurance Specialist to manage daily benefits processes, interpret provider contracts and collective bargaining agreements, and improve procedures for employee benefits transactions.

Responsibilities include open enrollment, staff training, payroll coordination, and overseeing disability leaves. A Bachelor's degree in HR or related field and 3+ years HR experience with benefits are required; SHRM-CP preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily benefits and insurance processes.
• Open enrollment, informational meetings, and premium rate calculations.
• Supervise staff responsible for benefits.
• Provide onboarding of benefits to employees and orientation.
• Lead wellness initiatives and monitor related leaves.
• Process payroll-related reports and related payments with Payroll.
• Oversee workers' compensation claims and unemployment processes.
• Prepare reports for collective bargaining and health coalitions.
